Um yeah, that’s kinda the point… that He loved us enough to die for us without us having to ask. When you love someone you don’t wait for them to ask for help and love, you give it to them freely.
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 NASB
He wants not only us but everyone saved, you know, everyone to get to know the truth we’ve learned: that there’s one God and only one, and one Priest-Mediator between God and us—Jesus, who offered himself in exchange for everyone held captive by sin, to set them all free. Eventually the news is going to get out. This and this only has been my appointed work: getting this news to those who have never heard of God, and explaining how it works by simple faith and plain truth. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 MSG
For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 NIV
For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 NLT
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 KJV
I have this Muslim friend, and she’s constantly getting upset and crying about judgement day and whether she’s doing enough good to go to heaven. It horrifies me to think her faith does that to her. Why would you worship a god that makes you scared? I am so thankful my God is loving and forgiving and takes away my fear.
New International Version (NIV)
50 Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. 51 Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh[a] and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.” 52 The second son he named Ephraim[b] and said, “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”
Hebrews often named their children in a way that expressed great emotions or something they were passionate about. So naming their children in honor of God or something God had done in their lives, was a form of thanksgiving and/or worship in a way that was personal to them and their culture.
How can I honor and worship God in a way that is personal to me and my culture?
Jesus, I need to worship and honor You in a personal way. Not how others think I should. This is how I can rekindle our flame. Please help me to keep devoted to this goal!
I am so grateful to God for how easy this life is that He gave me. I think of the Armenians, the Jews, the Tutsi, and other people who faced genocide. I think of the apostles and the first disciples of Jesus and their persecution, being brutally murdered for their beliefs. I think of oppressed women. I think of starving children. So many people who go through trials I can’t imagine. I might fail exams, be called names, or even physically attacked. But that is nothing compared to the true trials of others, and the trials of Jesus. I am so thankful this is the life God graced me with. I pray that I may be able to make the most of it. :’)
Scripture: blameless among people of his time - Genesis 6:9 NIV
Observations: Noah wasn’t blameless, he was blameless among the people of his time. The people of his time were so wicked that God wanted to rid the earth of them.
Application: Just because others around you are worse, that doesn’t make you a good person of better than them. The goal isn’t to be better than those around us; it’s to be the best we can be. When we go off of what others around us are doing, we lower our standards.
Prayer: Jesus, You are my standard, not others. You are my goal. My pursuit of happiness is my pursuit of You. You are my happiness.
